In the 2007/2008 Season, Lara performed roles with Center City Opera in Philadelphia, New Jersey Verismo Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, as well as concerts with Opera Company of the Highlands, Hat City Opera, and Diamond Opera Theatre. She was most recently a featured ensemble member in The Collegiate Chorale’s New York premieres of A White House Cantata, and Handel’s Jupiter in Argos. She has performed with Opera Pacific, Long Beach Opera, at the Holders International Festival in Barbados, and with the Bronx and Riverside Operas in New York, as well as with the Greenwich Village Orchestra and the Goliard Ensemble. Lara was a recent recipient of the Frederich Schorr Prize in Voice, and in the last year has been a Semi-Finalist in Joy In Singing, Lyndon B. Woodside Prize, American Traditions Competition, Rochester Oratorio Society Competition , and the upcoming Classical Singer Magazine Competition (Emerging Professional Division). In addition to her work in classical music, Lara frequently “crosses over” to various other musical genres; she is the vocalist for the jazz trio, “The Gin Rickeys”, sang the theme song for the FOX animated series “The Silver Surfer” and will perform leading roles this summer in both Musical Theatre and Opera at the Utah Festival Opera in July and August, 2008. Lara attended Westminster Choir College, Chapman University, and The University of Southern California where she attained a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance. A Cincinnati, Ohio native, Lara was raised in Southern California and now calls New York City home.
